The Eco Custom Homes® Difference - Raising the Level

10 reasons that Eco Custom Homes is your best choice for sustainable home and light business construction in the Atlanta market.

Customer Satisfaction

We provide our clients with Guild Quality Customer Satisfaction surveys when moving in and 6 and 12 months later to support our efforts to maintain consistent, quality work and to maintain a 100% Customer Recommendation Rate.

Innovation

Jeff Dinkle of Eco Custom Homes is the industry leader. Jeff is the first significant Atlanta area builder to become involved in sustainable home construction with an eye for both new homes and renovations. Jeff also holds a dual Georgia Building License allowing him to develop and implement sustainable building techniques for commercial buildings as well as residential. In every case he develops buildings that are energy efficient and environmentally sound while still being very comfortable to live and work in.

The Environment

Respecting the environment both inside and outside the home, Eco Custom Homes implements basic Feng Shui principals, designing our homes to promote positive energy flow. Our homes are Registered Wildlife Habitats with the National Wildlife Foundation.

Community Outreach

We believe that the most ethical strategy for long-term success is to include the community at large in our efforts to transform home building into a green industry. Jeff Dinkle leads the way in selflessly educating the public and young builders and architects on the short and long-term advantages of sustainable building and renovation practices. Eco Custom Homes has numerous industry affiliations and charitable ties to the greater Atlanta community.

Third Party Verification

Quality sustainable building expertise can be proven through third-party verification programs. Among these are USGBC's (U.S. Green Building Council) LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), Southface’s Earthcraft House and NAHB’s Green Building program to name a few.

Jeff Dinkle is a NAHB Certified Green Professional and Eco Custom Homes is LEED certified (highly desirable as proof of a green builders credibility) with very high ratings for both residential and commercial construction. Southface’s EarthCraft House is a green building program providing a blueprint for healthy, comfortable homes that protect the environment by reducing energy use and costs. Eco Custom Homes is the regional leader for building Southface Top-tier Certified Homes and is a 100% Earthcraft™ homebuilder, delivering 320 -330 out of a possible 350 points on every home, more than other local builders and exceeding the Earthcraft Standard of 150 points making us the leader and primary innovator in Atlanta area green building.

Cool Roofing

One way to help save money on summer cooling costs is through the use of one of the highly solar reflective “cool roofing” systems. Specialized aluminum roofing panels, special formula cement tiles (which can visually mimic slate or cedar roofing), and TechShield® radiant barrier roof decking are all regularly incorporated by Eco Custom Homes as cutting-edge elements in our cool roofing systems.

Alternative Hot Water Systems

Always a trendsetter, Eco Custom Homes embraced tankless hot water systems before most people have ever heard of them. Tankless heating technology, such as Rinnai’s Forever Hot Water, is  a much more efficient way than traditional tanks to heat water. Save money and storage space while providing an endless supply with personalized control for your convenience, comfort and safety.

Again a trendsetter, Eco Custom Homes now offers solar and geothermal powered hot water heating systems designed to keep you a step ahead in efficiency, cost savings and comfort.

Super Efficient HVAC Installations

With less than 4% duct leakage, our pressure-based systems provide healthy air and reduce the air intake from the outside when doors are opened. Our geothermal systems utilize the natural energy of the earth's almost constant temperature to cool the house in the summer and warm it in the winter in an extremely efficient and cost effective way.

Healthy Indoor Air Quality

In each Eco Custom Home we strive for the most effective means of ensuring clean contaminant-free air. Volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) contribute to increasing rates of chemical sensitivities and allergies. There is good scientific evidence that points to increasing rates of autism being due, in part to the overuse of dangerous ingredients in building materials. Commonly used Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) may be associated for increased risks for certain cancers due to its use of urea formaldehyde resins, also found in some insulation products. Most new home buyers are unaware that these dangerous materials may exist in their homes. Eco Custom Homes is especially careful about avoiding them and using safe woods and finishes. We educate on natural risks such as high radon levels and provide expert advice on products and home-related health and air quality issues.

Alternative Insulation

Eco Custom Homes is an innovator in the use of alternative insulation products. Among these are Icynene spray foam in both Open Cell and Closed Cell form and insulation made from cellulose, recycled denim or from soy based material. We often like to use the ultra-clean JM Spider™ spray fiberglass insulation, which is a formaldehyde-free and meets new code standards all across the country.

With so many insulation choices what is the best one to use.  We have real world experience using these products, and can educate you on which one is the best for a given application. Regardless of which one we suggest for your project, the safety and health of your family will always be the guiding factor.
