Healthy Indoor Air Quality
In each Eco Custom Home we strive for the most effective means of ensuring clean contaminant-free air. Volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) contribute to increasing rates of chemical sensitivities and allergies. There is good scientific evidence that points to increasing rates of autism being due, in part to the overuse of dangerous ingredients in building materials. Commonly used Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) may be associated for increased risks for certain cancers due to its use of urea formaldehyde resins, also found in some insulation products. Alternative Insulation
Eco Custom Homes is an innovator in the use of alternative insulation products. Among these are Icynene spray foam in both Open Cell and Closed Cell form and insulation made from cellulose, recycled denim or from soy based material. We often like to use the ultra-clean JM Spider™ spray fiberglass insulation, which is a formaldehyde-free and meets new code standards all across the country.
