Jeffrey Dinkle, LEED-AP, President, Eco Custom Homes

Jeffrey Dinkle

Jeff Dinkle found his passion for no-corners-cut construction in the mid 1990s, building his reputation for excellence by “rehabilitating” quality older homes. Applying this approach to new custom homes, he then founded ICON Development Corporation, which follows his philosophy of no skimping, building homes of the quality Jeff would choose for himself and his family.

Always ahead of the curve, in 2002 Jeff took it a step further, training with Southface, a leader in sustainable building, learning Earthcraft principles and best practices.

This training combined with Emory University degrees in economics and sociology help make Jeff Dinkle’s new Atlanta-based Eco Custom Homes, a leader in sustainable custom home construction, building very efficient high-performance structures that embrace comfortable living. The parent company, Icon Development, now focuses on the historic renovations.

Jeff has numerous industry affiliations and charitable ties within the Atlanta community. He and Eco Custom Homes are members of GAHBA, Southface, and USGBC. His ICC Residential Certification and a dual Georgia Building License enable his companies to build both residential and commercial construction projects.

Jeff’s regular community outreach projects include the 2008 “Eco Playhouse,” constructed for HomeAid Atlanta’s Project Playhouse. His whimsical “state of the art” child’s playhouse employed reclaimed wood, low VOC finishes, rainwater harvesting, and an “off the grid” solar system. It was auctioned off with proceeds benefiting Home Aid Atlanta in Piedmont Park.

Collaborating with the Community Design Center of Atlanta, Jeff currently consults with teams of architectural students in designing affordable cutting edge ISBU housing using shipping containers. Construction is planned for 2010.

Jeff is a Board member of the First Montessori School of Atlanta (FMSA), where his daughters, Juliana and Chloe are students. Dinkle is active on a FMSA Committee working to develop the 86-acre North Georgia LAND School campus in Summerville, Georgia. He has also been vital in planning the design construction of two new sustainable buildings on FMSA’s Atlanta campus totaling 14,000 sq ft.

Jeff and his wife, Katrina, have made Atlanta their home since 1994. Their favorite charities include The Carlos Museum at Emory, the High Museum of Art and support for the IRC.
